When was the idea to make “Virtual Reality Porns” created and who created this idea?
While we have been marketing adult content online since 2002, we are first and foremost, a tech company. Always have been. Whenever new tech hardware hits the consumer market, we buy it. So we naturally ordered a pair of Google Cardboard. This was the beginning of 2015. We unwrapped the package, assembled the Cardboard, slipped the Smartphone inside, loaded up a stereoscopic 3D Virtual Reality video, and we were blown away. We immediately saw the potential. The difference between 2D and 3D VR was so profound. We knew that once the consumer experienced it, there was no going back. So we thought, let’s look into making an adult-oriented virtual reality product. It really, all started with a $10-pair of Google Cardboard.
How long did you make VR-Porn?
We started producing VR content in Spring, 2015. BaDoinkVR launched in July 2015. We release a minimum of one new exclusive scene every week. At present, we have nearly 60 scenes live on BaDoinkVR.
What’s the name of your first production?
The first was called “Cumming Full Circle: A 360° Experience.”
Why did you especially make an erotic movie with Virtual reality? (Explain your intentions)
After seeing the potential with Google Cardboard, we knew that consumers would love it. The difference between ‘normal porn’ movies and BaDoinkVR porn movies is not subtle. The difference is immediate, powerful, and unambiguous. It is simply a more visceral, passionate and sensual experience. It makes the entertainment more immersive, more palpable, and we are, first and foremost, an entertainment company.
Tell some details from the making-of (mistakes, outtakes, tricky situations and nice scenes).
Eye contact is key. The more the performers look at the camera, the more immersive and visceral the experience feels to the end user. Switching from shooting 30 frames-per-second, a decision we made early on, to 60 frames-per-second made a huge difference. Because the display is just a few centimeters from one’s eyes, the higher the frame-rate, the more realistic the video looks. Among the more unique things about shooting VR content for the adult market is that the male performer in each scene is asked to lie still and stay quiet. The female performer is the dominant character. She controls every element of action in each scene.
Where did the movies shoot?
We shoot in Spain, Hungary, Czech Republic and United States.
How long did one movie-shooting take?
The shooting schedule is such that we shoot two movies in a single day. The amount of time each shoot requires depends a lot on what’s being shot on any given day. The more elaborate the sets, the more complicated the narrative, the more performers, the longer it takes.
Tell me about your next projects and movies for future reference.
We will continue innovating, based in evolving technology, creativity, as well as feedback from users via the BaDoinkVR feedback forum and the Oculus NSFW Subreddit on Reddit. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be producing scenes with a focus on the American election. As well, we’re developing a sex therapy production that will use VR to help people become more attentive lovers.
How large was your team?
Between our New York and Barcelona office, we have more than 70 fulltime employees.
How many Girls shoot for your VR-Porns? (and their names)
Dozens. We’ve shot American headliners like August Ames, and European sensations like Zoe Doll.
Where the costumers can buy the movies?
BaDoinkVR.com is a subscription-based website. Subscribers to BaDoinkVR.com have access to all of our content, as well as every new content update.
How long is a movie (time)
15 to 20 minutes.
Is VR-Porn the future of Porn?
It is most definitely the future of porn. There is simply no way of ‘un-seeing’ what’s possible, when you put on a pair of Google Cardboard, or a head-mounted display like Oculus Rift. However, this future, when Virtual Reality is how most view adult content, is not tomorrow. Development in VR teach is still in its most nascent phase. Right now, the user base falls under the heading of Early Adopter. So the answer is, “Yes,” but it is not going to happen next year, or even the year after.
What else would you like our readers to know?
Try BaDoinkVR. You won’t regret it. The biggest problem with virtual reality porn, and virtual reality, in general, is related to marketing: without experiencing it, you just don’t ‘get it.’ It’s like trying to explain to someone how delicious a kasekrainer is to someone who’s never eaten würstel. You can say it’s delicious, but he or she is not going to truly understand without experiencing it. You’ve got to take a bite; you’ve got to put the goggles on. That’s why, at BaDoinkVR, we give goggles away for free—to US consumers, and soon the world—with every subscription.
